Pulaski County court approves road name change, road additions, facility purchases and funding resolutions

Pulaski County Fiscal Court approved a series of infrastructure, procurement and budget items during a regularly scheduled meeting, including road name and system additions, building repairs, vendor payments and a funding resolution for additional asphalt work.
Roads and naming: The court approved changing Recycle Way (off Barnsberg) to Peter Zent Way after a public hearing where the property owner appeared, and voted to accept 1,270 feet of Birch Creek Lane into the county road system (off US 80). The court also approved adding a 30 mph speed limit on Stewart Road and adopted the final road list with that addition.
Facilities and purchases: The court approved a $15,402 purchase for 12 mini-split HVAC units for the White Lily Community Center; the expense is part of a previously awarded grant to complete remodeling and reduce heating and cooling costs. A late $10,000 invoice to build or outfit a pickleball court at Burnside was approved, and the court approved a $300,000 invoice from Jave LLC for bridge work on the Schauffel School project; the bridge work is state-funded and the contractor had reported foundation issues but ongoing progress.
Funding and budget items: The court approved a resolution and agreement for $561,000 in flex asphalt funding after reviewing the contractor's revised needs for blacktop; members voted to sign both the resolution and the agreement. Separately, the court approved advertising a first reading for a $600,000 budget amendment to serve as a pass-through for a senior-housing project coordinated with the Lake Cumberland AD District; the first reading was advertised (no final appropriation occurred at this meeting).
Personnel and departmental items: The court approved hires (Joshua Rollins; Samantha Keith), promoted Cody Randolph at the recycling center, changed an employee status in fleet maintenance and approved a $7,900 softbox purchase for a truck. Routine road-department material purchases (coal mix, 3,000 tons of rock, 4,000 gallons of patch oil) were also approved.
The court closed with community announcements about a tree lighting on Dec. 4 and a downtown Christmas parade on Dec. 6 and adjourned.
