The committee heard a first board presentation from Ina Hall, the district’s family engagement liaison, who outlined a range of engagement efforts focused on families of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Hall described 'Thriving Future Talks' (formerly transition talks) expanded to include families across pre‑K through transition years and noted growing participation. She outlined a quarterly family‑learning series (topics have included chronic absenteeism and winter well‑being), a three‑week CTI training offering for parents, and a new monthly, parent‑led support group intended to help families stay connected as students age out of school services.
Hall also described several sensory‑friendly events planned in partnership with local organizations (including Rockin' the Spectrum and a local salon offering discounted, adapted haircuts) and confirmed the district will hold its transition resource fair at the Huntley Public Library on April 15 to improve access and proximity to the college & career fair in the high‑school field house hallway.
Next steps: Administration will continue outreach and marketing, monitor participation, and return updates on program metrics to the board.
