The Borough of Northampton council approved an updated operating policy for the Northampton Police Department’s K‑9 unit, revising responsibilities and deployment guidelines.

Jason Donahue moved to adopt the updated K‑9 policy; the motion was seconded by Kanoff and adopted on a unanimous voice vote. Council members had received the revised policy with their meeting packet and did not raise substantive objections during the discussion.

The updated policy, included in the council materials, outlines responsibilities and deployment protocols for the K‑9 unit. Borough staff will handle publication and implementation of the policy within the police department.
