Resident urges county to address safety and infrastructure near Goldenberg and Slick Branch Spur

Resident Corey Johnson told the Fiscal Court he and neighbors on Goldenberg Lane have observed frequent power flickers and low flows of water, and said the small intersection at Goldenberg and Slick Branch Spur is dangerous. He said recent and proposed new construction — including possible duplexes — could strain water and power infrastructure that he believes is undersized for additional density.
"We sit on about 18 acres out there… most everybody in that little area sits on at least 5 or 10," Johnson said, and added that the turn at the corner is "pretty dangerous" with a history of accidents. He said he spoke house‑to‑house to collect neighborhood views and asked county officials to consider the community character when planning for growth.
A magistrate responded that the judge and county staff have visited the corner several times and are working on a plan to make access easier; Johnson said he would be willing to participate and get more information from county staff.
What happens next: County staff and the judge said they have a plan for improvements and will continue to engage residents about possible solutions for the intersection and utility concerns.
