Knox County approves Mercury Broadband utility permits across townships

Knox County commissioners on Dec. 11 approved multiple utility permits allowing Mercury Broadband to place facilities on county rights‑of‑way across several townships.
County staff read permits into the record for locations including Apple Valley Road (Brown Township), sections in Monroe Township, North Liberty Road and Amity Road (Danville area). Each permit was moved, seconded and recorded with an affirmative voice vote.
County procedures require staff from the highway/engineer’s office to record the permits and notify applicants of standard conditions; the board instructed the engineer’s office to complete and file the permit documents. No special easements or financial concessions were discussed at the meeting; the approvals allow the company to proceed under standard county permit conditions.
The utility permitting approvals are administrative actions that permit construction and placement of broadband infrastructure but do not represent final construction schedules or guarantees of immediate service to customers. Further developer schedules, right‑of‑way restoration plans and as‑built requirements will be managed by the county engineer’s office.
