The board approved the district’s Teacher & Student Success/land trust framework. Assessment director Julie Lundell detailed roughly $10.6 million in land trust allocations to the district and explained permitted uses, including up to 25% for salaries and benefits.
The Davis School District Board approved the Teacher & Student Success (TSSA) land trust plan framework for the 2026–27 school year after a presentation by Julie Lundell, the district’s assessment director.
Lundell said the district’s land trust funding this year is "about $10,600,000," up from approximately $10,200,000 the prior year. She described how those funds are distributed by school based on enrollment (smaller schools receive a low around $16,000; the largest high school might receive up to about $398,000). In addition, she reported that teacher and student success funding for the district totals roughly $17.5 million distributed to schools and about $5.85 million used at the district level for salaries and benefits. "The legislation allows 25% of the funding to be used for salaries and benefits," Lundell said.
The framework presented outlines the district’s timeline and supports for school community councils as they develop school‑level land trust plans (training in November, data reviews January–March, plan submission by April 5, board review in May and final acceptance in June). Lundell said the assessment department will review plans in April and provide training for community councils and the board.
Board action: Ms. Hogan moved to approve the TSSA land trust framework for 2026–27; Ms. Mercer seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and the motion passed.
What’s next: Community councils will use the framework and district tools to draft school plans during the January–March window, with plans due April 5 for administrative review and later board acceptance.
