Mayor Cyril Jefferson recognized William E. (Ed) Price Jr., presenting him with the key to the city and reading a proclamation that summarized Price's long record of service in High Point. The proclamation noted Price's more than 45 years as president of Ed Price and Associates, Price Commercial Properties and as a principal with Hinkle Price and Cole Property Management Inc., and listed civic service including Westchester Baptist Church, Macedonia Resource Center, the Carl Chavis YMCA and the Guilford County Board of Education.
Jefferson described Price's impact on neighborhoods and youth sports and said the city wanted to "give you your flowers while you can still smell them." The council and attendees gave Price a standing recognition and applause; the mayor invited Price's family forward for photographs and read the proclamation into the record.
Price briefly accepted thanks from the dais. The recognition was ceremonial and did not include an associated policy or funding action.
