Members said the current lock situation includes about 99 padlocks, many with keys that no longer work or that are rusted; a committee member proposed cutting off the old padlocks and installing a single combination lock, which the group discussed as using the combination "1357." The committee directed staff to prepare an email list of affected users so the combination can be distributed and to schedule the physical changeover once a second replacement lock is available.
Members also flagged the wooden three-sided sign inside the gate that is falling apart and discussed asking the local school to rebuild the sign as a senior project. The committee noted that if the sign cannot be repaired, it would need to be rebuilt from scratch and is open to city assistance or school involvement.
No formal vote was recorded to authorize purchase and installation beyond members agreeing to proceed; one member had already purchased a combination lock and said they would provide it once the committee agreed. The committee asked staff to notify fire, police and hangar owners about the new access procedure.
The committee adjourned after briefly reviewing the sign and lock plans and setting a tentative date for its next meeting in mid-March.
