At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Hinsdale Plan Commission approved routine minutes and several land-use and sign items and instructed staff to pursue a potential text amendment on sidewalk 'sandwich-board' signs.

- Approved (first reading / findings): Case 8-45-2025 (exterior appearance/site plan review for 550 W. Ogden Ave.) — staff noted this proceeds to the village board for final consideration on Jan. 6.

The commission also discussed sidewalk 'sandwich board' signs. Bethany, planning staff, told the panel that such boards are currently prohibited by code and that staff has been asked to draft a text amendment to bring to the Plan Commission and village board for consideration. "They are prohibited, right now by code," Bethany said; commissioners asked staff to return with language for limited allowance in downtown areas if desired.
During sign reviews commissioners repeatedly emphasized neighborhood compatibility and sight-line safety; where public concerns were raised — notably for the monument sign at 710 North York Road — the commission attached conditions to approvals requiring revised photos, finish changes and lighting controls.
