Denise Woodstock, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Wisconsin Shoreline, addressed the council on Dec. 15 to review the agency's work in 2025 and local volunteer needs.
Woodstock said the agency marked its 60th anniversary, has expanded since a merger of county agencies and now serves a shoreline area with roughly 200,000 constituents. She said Big Brothers Big Sisters Wisconsin Shoreline received platinum honors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for growth in the number of children served, quality of outcomes and financial sustainability.
The CEO highlighted local volunteer shortfalls—more than 75% of the waiting list are boys—and encouraged men in the audience to consider mentoring. She also described the 'Bigs with Badges' initiative in which the Two Rivers Police Department partners with local schools (Koenig Elementary and LB Clark Middle School) to provide mentoring opportunities.
Woodstock closed by thanking community partners and inviting interested residents to learn more about mentoring and volunteer opportunities.
