Ocean Shores liaisons outline alum treatment plan, note small Ecology grant opportunity

Speaker 9 said he was preparing a grant application to the Washington State Department of Ecology. "It's unfortunately, it's only a $50,000 grant," Speaker 9 said, adding the application deadline is the 16th of the month. Board members asked how far $50,000 would go; Speaker 1 said he was not sure of alum treatment costs and at one point referenced "$5,050,000" (an unclear figure in the record) — the participants treated that figure as uncertain.
Speaker 5 also said the final stormwater rate study will be available by the end of the year and that the liaison would share the package when completed. Board members said clearer cost estimates and treatment timelines would inform planning for spring work and potential vendor involvement to improve the bays and attract visitors to Ocean Shores.
