Miguel Alejandre, speaking to the council, said the city needs to ensure growth is matched by public services and proposed an annual infrastructure capacity report, a ‘‘growth plus infrastructure’’ policy requiring major developments to identify how they will fund required public services, and stronger regional partnerships to expand health‑care capacity. "Growth must be matched with infrastructure," he said, listing fire and police staffing, hospital beds, school capacity, water and wastewater limits, and road congestion as principal concerns.
Other public commenters suggested the city expand pet‑friendly programming — including support for service‑dog training and signage for pet‑friendly businesses — and requested continued discussion of rail‑trail lane markings and e‑bike safety. The city clerk read a letter from resident Erasmo Viveiros asking the council to coordinate with the police and school district on an e‑bike ordinance to address speed limits, travel direction and right‑of‑way.
A speaker also urged a fuller audit of the PPID Downtown Association, saying investor confidence would benefit from a complete review of downtown transactions. Another resident raised a governance complaint about a parent club, alleging that $6,700 raised by parents was transferred to a school account without adequate documentation and requested transparency, bank records and clear election and succession procedures for the parent club.
Council members thanked commenters and indicated staff follow‑up where appropriate. No formal council action on these specific public comments was taken at the meeting; council business proceeded to the consent agenda and public hearings.
