Cleveland OKs interlocal agreement with Tarkington ISD for civic-center reunification site

Cleveland City Council approved an interlocal agreement Dec. 9 to allow Tarkington Independent School District to use the Cleveland Civic Center as a reunification center in emergencies. Ashley Carter explained the arrangement mirrors the existing agreement with Cleveland ISD; Tarkington’s emergency-management representative will tour the facility and a joint unification training is planned for January.
Councilman Brent McWaters moved to approve the interlocal agreement and Councilwoman Rachel Hall seconded; Mayor Danny Lee announced the motion carried 5–0. City staff said the agreement as drafted was reviewed by the city attorney and included standard provisions used in the district’s prior agreement with the city.
The approval authorizes staff to coordinate logistical details with Tarkington ISD, including facility access protocols and training dates. No detailed cost-sharing arrangements were discussed on the record during the meeting.
