At the end of the Nov. 20 meeting, staff gave brief updates on downtown redevelopment and a consultant presentation on potential Main Street improvements. The planning division said consultants recently presented street-safety and streetscape options to stakeholders.
Staff also summarized an available grant program intended for residents affected by hurricanes Ian or Nicole. The grant pool was described as about $632,000 with awards of up to $15,000 per eligible resident for costs such as roofing, HVAC, flooring and drywall repairs. Staff explained the application requires ID, proof of income and ownership and that a scanning code included in outreach materials links directly to the application. Planning staff urged the board to spread word-of-mouth so eligible residents can apply.
