Board approves Lone Star Governance calendar, consent agenda and personnel recommendations after closed session

At its Aug. 26 meeting the WESLACO ISD Board of Trustees approved several routine governance and personnel items following discussion.
Trustee Ben Castillo moved and Dr. Jaime seconded approval of the Lone Star Governance monitoring calendar for October 2025; the board voted in favor and the motion carried.
The board then reviewed the consent agenda, allowed trustees an opportunity to pull items for discussion, and approved the consent agenda. Trustees debated one pulled consent item (interim financial report for month ended 07/31/2025) and after discussion—during which trustees requested additional reconciliation details—moved to approve the interim financial report. The board asked administration to provide the TEA notice and to continue monthly updates until the annual audit is final.
The meeting recessed into closed session on personnel and litigation items listed by case numbers. After closed session the board approved the superintendent's recommendations for personnel contracts and voted to authorize the superintendent to take actions related to a specific litigation matter as discussed in closed session.
All motions recorded on the agenda carried by voice vote during the meeting.
