Palmdale Planning Commission approves continued operation, upgrades for wireless facility at 2272 East Palmdale Boulevard

The Planning Commission of the City of Palmdale voted to adopt Resolution PC2025019, approving the continued operation and equipment upgrades for an existing major wireless telecommunications facility at 2272 East Palmdale Boulevard.

Associate Planner Jose Gonzalez told the commission the application requests continued operation and equipment upgrades to an existing facility; earlier approvals were granted on Oct. 3, 2002, and Feb. 13, 2014, with those permits later expiring. Gonzalez said the proposed work would avoid greater disruption to the surrounding area by improving an existing facility rather than constructing a new site. "The existing antennas will remain flush mounted," he said, adding that there would be no increase in height or square footage and that ground-mounted equipment will stay screened within the existing enclosure. Staff recommended the commission adopt Resolution PC2025019 and find the project categorically exempt from environmental review.

Chair Henderson opened the public hearing; no members of the public signed up to speak. Commissioner Jones moved to adopt the resolution; Vice chair Elise seconded. The chair announced the motion passed with four yes votes, approving the conditional use permit and modification associated with the project.

The action authorizes continued operation under the conditions described in the staff report and the resolution. The commission did not receive any public testimony opposing the project at the hearing, and no modifications to the staff recommendation were recorded. The commission adjourned to its next scheduled meeting at the close of the session.
