The Redwood Coast Transit Authority board approved Amendment 1 to the Dokan Engineering PS&E contract for the Williams Drive charging project, adding $33,500 to complete 100% design and bid documents and to design two backup generators.
Kaylee Flynn, senior transportation planner with Green Dot Transportation Solutions (the agency’s on‑call consultant for TRSIP projects), told the board on‑site visits revealed missing scope items: a site survey was needed to ensure the project elements fit within the extents of a planned ground lease, and two backup generators required integration into electrical plans. Those tasks were not in the original scope and are now included in the amendment.
Directors asked why roughly $11,900 was budgeted for generator design and why the work required more than 70 hours. Staff explained the scope includes equipment selection and sizing, conduit routing and pad design, and connections to existing switchgear. Staff also said one generator was purchased previously with grant funds but not yet installed; the amendment covers design work for both the purchased unit and an additional generator sized for charger backup.
A board member moved to approve Item 7 as stated on the agenda; the motion was seconded and a unanimous roll call vote approved the amendment. Staff will execute documents to incorporate the additional scope into the PS&E contract.
