FRUITA — The Fruita City Council opened its meeting by proclaiming November 19–25, 2025 as Interfaith Awareness Week.
Aaron Hancey read the proclamation on behalf of the city, noting the Grand Valley Interfaith Network’s long-running efforts since 1977 to bring diverse faith communities together. Carlene Goldthwait, vice president of the Grand Valley Interfaith Network, thanked the council and described plans for a community interfaith Thanksgiving service scheduled for Nov. 25 at American Lutheran Church, noting the event will include ASL interpretation and activities for children.
Goldthwait also acknowledged the Ute people and the history of Indigenous occupation in the area while saying the network’s 2025 theme is “hope and action community service.” She encouraged attendance and highlighted the network’s website for details.
