Band director Chris Lara addressed the board to record a historic season for the Jersey Shore marching band, telling trustees the ensemble collected multiple first-place finishes on the cavalcade circuit and, ‘‘for the first time in school history, we brought back to Jersey Shore a championship.’’ He reported a school-record overall score of 94.425 and noted the band won caption awards for high visual and general effect.
Lara also said three students will represent the district at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 8 Band festival in Towanda in February, and reminded the board of upcoming winter concerts and a modern-band festival the district will host on Jan. 16. The board praised the students and staff and dismissed the band after the presentation.
The report was a recognition item; no board action was required.
