The Loomis Town Council unanimously approved new leadership for the coming year on Dec. 9, appointing Jan Clark Ritz as mayor and Danny Cartwright as mayor pro tem.
The appointments were made by motion from Speaker 1 and seconded by Speaker 4; a roll call recorded affirmative votes from Mayor Ring, Council members Youngblood, Cartwright, Clark Ritz and Cortez. Council then took a 10‑minute recess so newly seated officials could take their places.
The council used the start of the meeting for ceremonial remarks before returning to regular business. Staff and council members publicly thanked outgoing Mayor Ring for his service; a certificate of appreciation was also presented to John Patrick for organizing Loomis’s first farmers market, which council members called a strong community gathering point.
The mayoral appointments were procedural and took immediate effect; council moved on to other agenda items after the short recess.
