Trustee raises SRT equipment risk; village announces weatherization partnership and holiday events

Trustee Alba raised concerns during trustee reports that a planned purchase for the village SRT (Special Response Team) could increase risk to personnel given current political events and urged flexibility in budget planning.
"I'm encouraging that we look at some of these budget items as current events evolve ... that we can be flexible and make sure that we're making choices that are best for protecting our folks," Trustee Alba said. Alba said the chief expressed hesitation to reexamine the purchase because of the process involved but said the board should consider adjustments if conditions change.
Separately, village clerk Christy reminded the public of upcoming community holiday events: the tree lighting on Dec. 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Ontarioville Park and Santa appearances in the gazebo on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 from 6 to 7 p.m.
The presiding official also announced a joint venture involving the Cook County Economic Development Association (CETA) and DuPage County to provide expanded weatherization services covering Will and Kane counties and a contracted community in Kentucky. The official said the program will offer insulation, storm-window and door work and furnace repair or replacement and encouraged DuPage County residents to inquire about the services.
No executive session was scheduled; the meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
