Hanover Park recognizes 2025 Citizens Police Academy graduates

Hanover Park trustees and police department staff on the evening recognized the graduates of the 2025 Citizens Police Academy, a 10-week program intended to build relationships between residents and officers and to provide residents with an overview of law enforcement practices.
"We launched our academy to create opportunities for residents to gain a higher level of understanding of law enforcement and to get to know our officers who serve them," said a police department presenter (Speaker 5). The presenter described the curriculum as including patrol operations, emergency response, criminal investigations, evidence collection and legal considerations.
The presenter credited Lieutenant Gordon Hendry with direction of the program and thanked instructors and participants for their participation. An instructor (Speaker 6) called graduates forward one by one to receive certificates. Those named in the meeting included Crystal Ayala, Jose Bello, Albertine Bett Babu, Jennifer Chicas, Monica Deptum, Alma Kamaseya Sadore Merzen, Rodrigo Zavala (also called "Orzo"), Alrick Piviral (not present), Yvonne Preston, Laura Riley, Irma Rodriguez and Gurmeet Singh.
After certificates were distributed, the group took photographs and refreshments were provided, the trustees said. The presiding official thanked the graduates for stepping forward and called the academy a valued resource for the village.
The recognition took place near the start of the regular meeting; trustees then moved on to routine consent and finance items.
