Wilson School Board honors state‑champion water polo team, National Merit students and outgoing member Case

The Wilson School Board opened its Nov. 17 meeting with ceremonial recognitions of student achievement and a tribute to a departing board member.
Drew Kaufman and Erin Goodhart Kearns, joined by coaches including Head Coach Chris Lechleitner and assistants Lehi Gartner and Amanda Botner, recognized the Wilson girls water polo team for an undefeated 2024–25 season and a second consecutive Pennsylvania state championship, including a 51‑match unbeaten streak across two seasons.
Student outreach and Mrs. Renix recognized Wilson students who qualified for National Merit recognition: six commended students (Jinling Chen, Harrison Eck, Emeline Crocker, Jacob Mochin, Bridal Pagliu, Madison Taylor) and two state semifinalists (Heidi Ding and William Farincik). Mrs. Renix explained the PSAT‑based selection process and noted finalists will be notified as the program proceeds.
Later in the agenda, board members offered remarks thanking Mister Case for eight years of service to the district, noting his leadership on education and operations committees and praising improvements to facilities and district culture during his tenure. Mister Case spoke briefly about why he is stepping down and thanked administrators, staff and his family.
The recognitions were ceremonial and no formal votes were required. The board will continue routine business after ceremonial remarks.
