Board approves new CTE courses and relocations tied to new CTE center

The board approved a slate of career and technical education (CTE) course updates and relocations for the 2026–27 school year tied to the district's new CTE center.
Dr. Hart Crowder presented the final course list, explaining that some existing programs (ag mechanics, construction technology) will move to the CTE center and no new course titles are required for those moves. The district will bring automotive and welding instruction in-house (previously students were bused to neighboring districts). Dr. Crowder also described a new cosmetology sequence: "cosmetology, for their, Texas department license regulation. They do have to get 1000 clocked in hours," and said the district will schedule cosmetology as two- and three-block courses so students can meet licensing-hour requirements.
Other additions include digital art and animation at College View and video-game design that will count as an art credit, and tweaks to cybersecurity offerings (digital forensics and foundations of security). Trustees thanked staff for aligning courses to student interest and the new CTE center capacity.
The board approved the course approvals by voice vote, 7–0.
Next steps: staff will finalize course listings in the district course guide and proceed with staffing and scheduling at the new CTE center.
