Goodhue County recognizes GIS team’s role in public safety during GIS Day

At the November meeting the Goodhue County Board of Commissioners and the Sheriff's Office publicly recognized the county GIS team for GIS Day. The Emergency Services Captain (Speaker 7) described GIS work as critical to public safety functions including 911 dispatching, routing using NextGen 911 technology, situational mapping during incidents, and interagency resource coordination.
The captain introduced county GIS staff—Jeff Blad, Alan, Brian and Leanne—and commissioners praised the team for improving departmental workflows and public access to mapping tools. Commissioners noted that GIS supports road projects, emergency response, and public-facing services, and they led a round of applause in acknowledgment of the team.
The board’s recognition was ceremonial and no formal action was required or taken.
