Buena Park board reorganizes leadership, accepts audit and adopts several routine motions (votes at a glance)

The Buena Park School District Governing Board completed its annual reorganization and a set of routine actions at the Dec. 8 meeting.
Elections and appointments: Trustee (named in the agenda transcript as) Jerry Furtos was nominated and elected president by voice vote (recorded as passing 4-0). The board also elected a clerk/president pro tem and named trustees to the Orange County nominating committee and other representative roles; the incoming president moved to appoint Superintendent Dr. Julian Lee to serve as the governing board secretary, and that motion passed 4-0.
Audit and finance motions: Jeanette L. Garcia, representing the district’s audit firm, presented the 2024–25 financial and compliance audit and reported no instances of noncompliance, no audit adjustments and no findings. The board moved to accept the audit report; the motion passed unanimously.
Other actions: The board adopted Resolution No. 25-07 establishing annual developer fees for the 2024–25 fiscal year for Fund 25 (capital facilities) by roll call (recorded ayes by trustees and motion recorded as passing 4-0). The board also authorized the purchase of network infrastructure and VoIP equipment, software and services from Cisco Systems, Inc. through a cooperative contract and approved the consent calendar. Where listed, motions were seconded and all recorded votes were unanimous.
Closed session and adjournment: The board convened a closed session on personnel and labor relations matters under Government Code section 54957.6 and later reconvened; the board reported no action taken in closed session and then adjourned the meeting.
