Quakertown Community School District — At its Dec. 2 meeting the board approved several consent and policy items, including an MOU with Lifespan for the district—s Pre-K Counts 2025–26 program, human resources consent items and a new AI usage policy.
On personnel and HR business the board approved items 9a–9d on the consent agenda, including an affiliation agreement with IU 13 for screening services that a staff member described as costing "$5 per applicant" and scaled by the number of prior employers checked. Board members noted the volume will depend on hiring needs.
The board then approved an MOU with Lifespan for the Pre-K Counts program. Administration said services were already underway; funding and start delays were tied to state budget timing. "It's just delayed because of the state budget issue," an administrator said, and the motion carried by voice vote.
On policy the board approved the policy committee—s recommendations for policy 8.15.1 addressing artificial intelligence use. Committee members said the policy is intended as a first step; teacher and grading uses would be addressed in an administrative regulation to be drafted and reviewed as the board revisits the policy (committee plans to review within roughly six months as AI evolves). A member said, "This is a good first step" and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board heard additional informational items, including staffing vacancy reports, and congratulated a staff member receiving tenure.
