Board approves Exton Elementary modular demolition and classroom-addition bid awards totaling about $1.9 million
Summary
The board approved a construction agreement with West Whiteland Township and bid awards for modular demolition and a classroom addition at Exton Elementary; the administration read competitive low bids with a combined construction price of approximately $1.9 million.
The West Chester Area School District board approved items Dec. 15 to allow the district to enter a construction agreement with West Whiteland Township and to award construction contracts for modular demolition and an addition at Exton Elementary School.
Mister Burster, director of facilities and operations, told the committee the administration sought authorization to establish financial securities with the township and to award contracts after a competitive bidding process. He read the low, responsible bidders and amounts into the record: general contractor S B Conrad (general contracting) at roughly $1,287,000; mechanical contractor Clipper Pipe & Services at $265,700; plumbing award to Integrity Mechanical at $188,500; and electrical award to Shipsea Electric at about $166,264, for a combined construction-contract total of roughly $1,907,424. The board approved the bids and the township construction agreement.
The administration noted the bid amounts were slightly under budget expectations and that the approved awards will allow the facilities work to proceed under the existing capital plan. The board directed staff to finalize contracts and to return procurement documents as required.
