Placer County recognized dozens of employees for long service at a county ceremony where leaders praised staff for years of dedication to public works, health and human services, public safety and other county functions.
"For those of you here today, you're celebrating and being acknowledged for 20 years or more of service at Placer County," said Daniel Chatney, Placer County CEO, who opened the program by thanking employees for their "resilience" and help in making the county "a highly desirable place." An unidentified member of the Board of Supervisors, speaking "on behalf of the board of supervisors," said, "Your work does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate all that you all of your hard work."
Joe Ambrosini, director of human resources, led the awards presentation and called employees to the stage to receive certificates and photos. "We'll start with our 20 year awardees first," Ambrosini said before reading names from multiple departments, including Air Pollution Control District, Assessor, Child Support Services, Clerk-Recorder, county executive office, Ag Parks and Natural Resources, General Services, Public Works, the district attorney's office, health and human services, probation and the sheriff's office.
Among employees named during the ceremony were Zachary Lee, Sylvia McKenzie, Shirley Harrington and Catherine Sutherland. Ambrosini also announced recipients recognized for 25, 30 and 35 years of service, noting the breadth of roles county staff fill across operations.
County leaders emphasized the value of institutional knowledge and the support families provide to long‑serving employees. The Board of Supervisors representative thanked the human resources team for organizing the event and invited all recipients for a group photo. Attendees were directed to a reception in the Cordova Room following the presentations.
The ceremony concluded with applause for the awardees and a reminder that the county will continue to publicly acknowledge extended service milestones.
