Town awards JCJ contract to assess school facilities; assessments to begin in December

The Tewksbury School Facilities Study Committee has hired architect firm JCJ to perform a district-wide facilities assessment, committee members reported on Nov. 19.
The assessment, funded by a town meeting vote in May, will examine building condition aligned to educational needs. JCJ will begin with visioning meetings with school and town stakeholders and then conduct site inspections. The committee expects to start meetings Dec. 2 and to complete the assessment in late February so recommendations can be shared with the school committee and select board.
Committee members noted the work will inform possible options for repurposing vacated buildings, space needs and future capital planning. JCJ will coordinate with the Tewksbury School Facilities Study Committee (TSFSC) and district leadership for stakeholder conversations and facility visits.
