County staff describe timing move to close city property sale before vacation to avoid extra steps

Speaker 3 said the plan is to hold some money in escrow, close the sale with the buyer and then the city will approve the vacation; because the vacated strips would revert to the buyer when recorded, the county would not take title to the narrow strips and would avoid additional public-notice steps that would have been required if the county had taken title. “It allows us to complete the sale prior to the end of the fiscal year and it doesn't add any extra new steps,” Speaker 3 said.
Legal counsel for the transaction was identified as Jeremy Greer (cited in correspondence); staff said they would confirm whether any formal county approval is required at the next meeting and will add items to the agenda if needed. Board members agreed the approach seemed reasonable and asked staff to keep them informed.
