Socorro ISD signs MOU with El Paso Children’s Hospital and Project ADAM to standardize cardiac emergency response

Socorro ISD trustees on Nov. 19 approved a memorandum of understanding with El Paso Children’s Hospital and Project ADAM to standardize cardiac emergency response across district campuses.
Julianna Tarango, district nurse manager, said the collaboration will implement a cardiac emergency response plan, provide CPR and AED training for staff, and align district practice with Project ADAM’s national standards. Tarango noted that the work will help the district meet requirements of Senate Bill 865 by the 2027 deadline.
"This partnership will actually help us straighten our district's emergency preparedness for sudden cardiac events," Tarango said. She added that Region 19 and El Paso Children's Hospital have recognized the city as the first region in Texas to implement a fully standardized cardiac emergency response plan across its independent school districts.
Trustees voted unanimously to approve the MOU and commended staff and community partners for interagency coordination.
