Sheriff Brian Mueller presented the office's annual vehicle replacement plan and requested three motions: two vehicle purchases off state bid contracts and declaration of several vehicles as surplus to trade toward replacements. Commissioners approved purchasing four pursuit-rated vehicles through the South Dakota state bid (Liberty Dodge Ram) and two Chevrolet Silverados off an Iowa state contract (Carl's Chevrolet).
The board also declared four vehicles surplus to use as trade-in toward equipment purchases and separately approved removing Unit21 (a 2012 Dodge Caravan) from the trade list and donating it, with an estimated current trade value around $1,000, to the local Humane Society to support animal-services operations. Commissioners praised the Humane Society partnership and the donations; all motions carried by voice vote.
