School board celebrates 100th episode of Super News, spotlights student honors

The St. Bernard Parish School Board on Oct. 28 marked the 100th episode of Super News and heard a communications update that highlighted student achievements, community partnerships and upcoming district events.

Super News co-hosts said the program, launched in August 2016, aims to showcase accomplishments across the parish’s schools. "Congratulations to all of our school students of the year. You make Saint Bernard Parish proud," one host said while announcing that each school selected a student of the year; winners will move on to compete for district honors in November.

The presentation noted community recognitions, including awards from the Saint Bernard Kiwanis Club for principals, teachers and students. The update also featured school segments from N.P. Trist Middle School and Arlene Miro Elementary describing classroom programs such as a seminar on healthy relationships presented with the New Orleans Children’s Advocacy Center and New Orleans Children’s Hospital; the district highlighted discipline‑support tools and PBIS initiatives like a digital hall-pass system.

Board members applauded the Super News team for the milestone and praised students highlighted in the broadcast. The communications packet provided to the board included press releases, website and social‑media analytics, and a preview of items slated for the district’s Super News and community outreach channels.

The board did not take formal action on the communications update. The segment concluded with reminders about upcoming school performances and district broadcasts.
