Super News highlights student awards, cultural-arts upgrades and district programs

The Saint Bernard Parish School Board received a communications update and preview of the district’s November Super News program during its Nov. 18 meeting.
Communications staff (Miss Felt) outlined the materials in the packet and previewed Super News segments that celebrate student achievements and district events. The program included reports on the MoMA Center academic games with more than 200 student participants; district student-of-the-year recognitions (Bentley Yume, Grace Dewey, Jackson Nunez) and their advancement to zone and regional consideration; and a new short documentary recounting the district’s recovery and reopening after Hurricane Katrina.
Other Super News items included upgrades at the Cultural Arts Center (new microphones, projectors and audio equipment), student internships (a Chalmette High student completing an internship at the Royal Sonesta), middle-school sports nights and PBIS celebrations. Communications directed viewers to the district website and social channels for event details and said the documentary would be made publicly available soon.
Brandy Tucker, supervisor of transportation, served as a guest host and described her role in ensuring student transportation safety across the district.
