School board awards MoMA Center audio‑visual upgrade to PSX after close scoring

At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Saint Bernard Parish School Board voted unanimously to award a contract for comprehensive audio‑visual upgrades at the MoMA Center to PSX.
District staff and consultant Tom Kastuziak presented two proposals and explained the scoring rubric, which weighed prior experience with similar projects, staff and equipment qualifications, specification compliance, and cost. Although the other bidder (DNE) scored higher on cost, PSX received the top overall score for prior experience, project scope and staff qualifications. Staff cited a recent similar project at the Cultural Arts Center completed by PSX as evidence of suitability.
Board member Mister Long moved to approve the administration’s recommendation; Miss Dysart seconded. Board members asked whether the planetarium would be affected; staff confirmed the planetarium projection system had been recently upgraded and that the AV award would upgrade the planetarium’s audio component and other areas of the center. The motion passed 10–0.
Staff said the upgrade will create a portable AV system that allows audio and video to be routed throughout the center from mobile devices and will affect the theater, dining room, learning spaces and the planetarium’s audio system. The district’s consultant and scoring committee recommended PSX based on demonstrated capacity to handle a project of this scope.
