During the meeting the commission considered numerous contract and procurement items across the state, including professional services and work assignments for roadway design, hydraulic analysis, bridge surveys, and inspection services.
Notable items presented included:
- A class 3 supplemental agreement with APAC Mississippi (Item 16) adding pay items for signal upgrades on US 49 in Yazoo County. The supplemental agreement adds $878,462.25 for a revised contract amount reported as $32,073,985.90; no contract time was added.
- A professional services contract for independent cost estimating for the I-20/I-55 freight corridor project (Item 18) with a ceiling of $974,530.04.
- Indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity master contracts for construction engineering and inspection services statewide with a maximum per-firm cap of $5,000,000 for work assignments.
During presentation of the appraisal and appraisal-review master contracts (Item 8), a commissioner asked whether any North Mississippi appraisal firms had expressed interest. Trudy Lawton (staff) replied, "I'm sure there are qualified appraisers up in that area, but we have not had any submit to be on our master or, you know, express interest in performing work for us," and that she was not aware of any projects delayed due to appraiser availability. She noted some firms listed on the master contract may have branch offices in North Mississippi.
The actions presented were mostly on the consent/contract slate and were advanced as part of the agenda; the transcript does not show separate roll-call tallies for each contract presented on the record.
Commissioners asked a follow-up on the I-55/I-20/I-220 lighting improvements (Item 3). Staff said they were working to accelerate plans and expected to complete design by mid-2026 and move to construction thereafter to address safety and lighting gaps on the interstate.
