Trustees approved CPR #1 for Highlands Middle School fencing, CPR #40 for Pine Valley Middle soffit repair, and the use of a construction-manager-at-risk delivery method for Porter High School phase 3 to allow phased packages and design time for bond-related work.
The New Caney ISD Board approved multiple facilities actions on Nov. 17. Mr. Ressler presented Change Proposal Request (CPR) #1 for Highlands Middle School to add privacy slats to chain-link fencing, additional fencing and stone columns to meet developer standards; the board approved the CPR by voice vote.
He also presented CPR #40 for Pine Valley Middle School, recommending soffit repair and replacement following localized failure and long-term wood deterioration; architects and engineers recommended full soffit replacement around the building for safety and building envelope improvement, and the board approved the CPR.
For Porter High School phase 3, district staff recommended the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project delivery method to allow the district to issue multiple packages (for example, athletic turf and a covered practice pavilion) while taking time to design larger renovations such as a new band hall. The board approved using CMAR for phase 3 work.
Board members asked whether fencing specifications had been included at bid; Mr. Ressler said developer review occurred concurrently with bidding and personnel changes at the developer led to later clarifications. CPR approvals were taken by voice vote.
