The North Polk Community School District board elected Keith Borman as board president and swore in officers during its organizational meeting, the board announced.
Kyle Campbell nominated Borman and the board conducted a roll-call vote; four members voted yes and Borman abstained on his own election. Matt Eicher was elected vice president by unanimous roll call and each officer took the oath of office administered at the meeting.
The board appointed Sarah Aspengren as board secretary and Kristen Wood as board treasurer; both appointments were approved by voice vote. The board also adopted a meeting calendar for the year: regular monthly meetings on the third Monday at 6:00 PM in person and consent‑agenda meetings on the first Monday at 4:30 PM via Google Meets, with specified exceptions when a meeting falls on a holiday.
In governance and operations business, the board approved an annual appointment of district legal counsel (Ehlers & Cooney, PC) and designated its official legal publication as the Des Moines Register. Members also designated depository institutions and limits for district funds, a motion that passed with one abstention, and approved a committee slate for negotiations, finance, policy, facilities, education services and related roles.
Board members used the organizational session to recognize departing colleagues and confirm procedural items needed for the year ahead. The board adjourned the organizational portion and proceeded to regular business later in the meeting.
