Representatives of the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library updated the board Dec. 8 on the group’s recent activities, governance work and community outreach through the Booked In program.
Devon, speaking for the Friends, said the organization discussed finances, completed 2024 tax preparations, and that its nominating committee is assembling a slate to fill upcoming board vacancies. The Friends also worked with library staff on a rebranding rollout and thanked Director Coyle and Lisa Martinez for participating in those discussions.
Devon highlighted Booked In’s programming, noting an upcoming Jane Austen 200 event on Dec. 14 from noon to 3 p.m., and said the program’s social-media work is driving donations. "We have had 1 video get 83,000 views," Devon said, and the group described donating books both locally to classrooms and internationally. Devon singled out volunteer Pam Whitley for leading Booked In’s work.
The Friends offered to answer questions; directors thanked the presenters and the board proceeded to the executive team report.
The presentation focused on volunteer-led fundraising and outreach; no specific funding tallies or donor lists were provided during the meeting.
