Deputy Chief Agaglianos presented comparative crime data to the Waukegan Public Safety Committee on Nov. 3 covering Jan. 1–Nov. 2, 2025 versus the same period in 2024.

Agaglianos reported decreases across most violent crime categories: murders fell from 5 to 3 (a 40% reduction), aggravated assaults fell 219 to 164 (−25.11%), and total crimes against persons fell from 1,231 to 1,100 (−10.64%). Motor vehicle thefts also declined from 424 to 273 (−35.61%). Property crimes overall decreased from 2,109 to 1,845 (−12.52%).

He said theft/larceny rose from 618 to 683 (+10.5%) and fraud increased slightly from 153 to 156 (+1.96%). When asked what was driving the declines, Agaglianos credited proactive policing and officers "being proactive and and being cognizant of what's going on around them." Committee members requested that the department circulate the written statistics to members for review.

The committee did not take formal policy action based on the numbers but asked staff to distribute the data and remain prepared to discuss targeted responses for categories that increased.
