Bethlehem Central outlines plan to expand CTE internships and K–12 workforce pipeline

Jim Smith, the district—s social studies and business supervisor, told the Bethlehem Central School District Board that the district aims to "ensure every student graduates with meaningful exposure to real world craft, real world career pathways and access to skills" through expanded CTE (career and technical education) offerings and internships.
Smith and assistant principal Kim Sparkman led a presentation with partners from the Capital Region workforce system — including Brian Williams and Tim Drawbridge — describing a program structure that combines off-site CTE campus exposure with in-district courses. Smith said students currently may spend half the day at the Capital Region BOCES CTE campus in Albany for hands-on, industry-standard training and that the district maintains articulation agreements so course credits transfer to local colleges.
