Everman police report: calls for service up, serious crimes down; traffic enforcement increased

At the Dec. 9 meeting Speaker 3, the police department representative, summarized November public-safety activity and emphasized enforcement and prevention efforts.
Speaker 3 said the department responded to 1,648 calls for service; crimes against persons and property crimes were down overall. "We ended up with 1,648 calls for service that the police department responded to," Speaker 3 said. He reported one aggravated assault and one sexual-assault report that were handled by Fort Worth because the incidents occurred in Fort Worth but were reported here.
Property-crime responses were reduced; officers responded to three burglaries in progress (one arrest) and two vehicle burglaries, which Speaker 3 said involved unlocked cars. Traffic crashes were notably lower (six total) while traffic enforcement rose: 267 traffic stops that resulted in 182 citations and 85 warnings. Speaker 3 said the department completed active-shooter training with the school district and annual firearms qualification.
The council did not take action on the police report; the department will continue enforcement and training programs and return with monthly data.
