Adams County commissioners authorized county engineers to solicit contractor quotes for two 2026 roadway projects and accepted the highway department's annual list of bidders for routine materials and services.
County staff requested permission to advertise for quotes to repair delaminated concrete deck and a west joint on Bridal 31 (County Road 900 North over St. Mary's River), estimating construction at about $61,000; commissioners granted permission by motion. Staff also proposed testing a polyurea coating on exposed steel shell piles on Bridge 58 instead of conventional sandblasting and paint, with an estimated cost under $90,000; the board approved soliciting quotes to test the new coating on that bridge.
Highway department staff presented annual bid tabs for items including power washing, stone (various sizes), crack sealing, asphalt and fuel. Staff recommended accepting the annual bidders list so the county can solicit spot-market work from responsive, responsible bidders through the year; commissioners voted to accept the presented highway bids and to take the detailed tabulation under advisement for later award.
Separately, commissioners directed staff to advertise local paving bids to proceed with paving segments the county applied for under Community Crossings (the paving portion was not awarded); county staff said they will fund the work locally and seek contractors to have contracts in place by February for 2026 construction.
