The Newberg City Council voted on several routine and advertised items at its Dec. 15 meeting.
The council approved the consent calendar with a motion and second and a unanimous voice vote.
On a staff recommendation, council adopted Part 2 of the Departmental Customer Service Standards. The staff packet described the compilation as department-specific living documents for public-facing teams; Councilor Peggy moved to accept Part 2 and the motion passed unanimously (item recorded as Resolution 2025-4009 in the meeting discussion).
The council also considered an informational presentation about a library restroom remodel; staff reported an estimated construction cost of $96,000 and requested a spending limit of $120,000 to cover potential overages. Council moved to approve Resolution 2025-4005 authorizing the remodel and the measure passed unanimously.
Council confirmed a slate of board and commission appointments across multiple bodies including the budget committee, Historic Preservation Commission, Library Advisory Board, Planning Commission, Rate Review Committee and Traffic Safety Commission. Councilors moved and seconded the slate and approved the appointments unanimously.
What happens next: Staff will proceed with implementing the adopted customer-service standards, finalize procurement and scheduling for the library restroom remodel under the approved spending authority, and the newly appointed board and commission members will take up their roles per board procedures.
