At its Dec. 25 meeting, the Town of Southborough Board of Health voted to forward a memorandum to the personnel board seeking a recurring stipend for the town’s health agent following passage of his RS certification, and then approved the FY27 budget as presented.
Taylor told the board the stipend request reflects market comparisons for positions where an RS is required. “He received his RS this year, which we’re super happy and proud of him for doing because it’s a really hard exam to pass,” Taylor said, and asked the board to send the memo to the personnel board for formal personnel‑process approval.
Chelsea explained the stipend would be added to the personnel account and noted the $5,000 figure on the memo represented the full cost; because the agent is shared with Northborough, Southborough’s net cost is approximately $2,500 after reimbursement. The board moved the stipend memo to personnel and approved the FY27 budget as presented; members present signaled assent.
Taylor also reviewed shared‑service items in the budget, including an inspection‑software line that is billed through a four‑town shared‑services arrangement; staff said the software is an annual, shared expense and the state is working on a replacement over the next fiscal year.
The motions passed without amendment and will advance to the personnel board and the town’s budget process for final accounting.
