The Chilton County Schools board opened its Dec. 15 meeting by recognizing the Makersville High School football team for winning the state championship. Two seniors, the coach and the principal were invited forward for thanks and a photograph.

Coach Abbott described the team’s season, detailing practices and a week-by-week mindset that culminated in the championship, and board members offered congratulations. One board member said, "I'm so proud of y'all and proud of the way you represent us," and invited the players to remain for a photo to be posted by Miss Maddox on the district’s social media.

The recognition was ceremonial; no formal action or funding was associated with the presentation in the meeting record.
