Select Board approves utility pole work and declines town right of first refusal on two Chapter 61A parcels

At the Nov. 18 meeting the Select Board approved two separate utility pole requests from National Grid (with Verizon for one) and declined to exercise the town’s right of first refusal on two Chapter 61A conversion requests.
The chair opened public hearings for pole work on Hill Road and Dressler Hill Road. National Grid representative Robert Williams identified himself and took questions; police and DPW had reviewed and approved recommended safety measures. The board closed the hearings, then moved and voted to approve the pole installations for new residential services.
In separate Chapter 61A hearings, the board considered a conversion request from Peter Hothwig Jr., manager of PMZ DeBoele LLC, to remove roughly 7.11 acres (assessor map 28‑J‑3.1) from Chapter 61A, and a request on behalf of the estate of Forest A. McKinsey to remove about 6.55 acres (assessor map 32‑B‑2.1). The planning board, board of assessors, conservation commission and water/sewer commission reported no objections. The board closed both hearings and voted not to exercise the town’s right of first refusal for each parcel.
The board’s votes allow the utility work and the private conversions to proceed subject to normal permitting and recording processes.
