The Uvalde CISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s proposed library materials for the 2025–26 school year during its Nov. 18 meeting after staff described a vetting process and public posting.
District library services explained that selections underwent review by educators, campus administrators and stakeholder groups and were posted on the district library website for 30 days for parent review, with a formal reconsideration process if a parent objects. Librarians said purchases were budgeted through existing instructional and library allocations.
Trustee Swaddis moved to approve the list, Trustee Quinones seconded, and the board recorded the motion as carrying (motion and vote recorded at the meeting). Staff said they had received no formal challenges during the 30‑day review window and reviewed the committee reconsideration steps for any future challenges.
District staff reiterated that the process follows Senate Bill 13 requirements for board review of updated library catalogs.
