Valley County commissioners voted to accept two FY24 grant awards and authorized the chair to sign the acceptance documents.

Staff described the first award as a Transportation Alternatives Program (LTAC) grant intended to add roadway width for bicycle and pedestrian paths and to supplement a future Federal Lands Access Program project. The second award is a Federal Aid bridge grant to rehabilitate the Lake Fork Creek bridge, including supporting work under the bridge and surface repairs.

Staff explained both awards were communicated as broad notifications (a general award email) and were issued at the maximum amounts allowable. The county is not required to spend the entire award amount; both grants are reimbursement grants, meaning the county will be reimbursed for eligible project costs actually incurred. Staff emphasized that any unused awarded funds are not eligible for unrelated projects and must be used for the specified project.

Commissioner (S5) moved to accept the LTAC transportation alternatives grant and authorize the chairman to sign; Commissioner (S9) seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. The board then moved to accept the FY24 Federal Aid bridge grant for the Lake Fork Creek bridge rehab and authorize the chairman to sign; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

What commissioners approved: acceptance of two reimbursement grants (transportation alternatives and federal bridge rehab) and authorization for the chair to sign the acceptance agreements. Staff will proceed with project agreements and reimbursements as costs are incurred.
